From Teacher to Donor: A Note From Jim Clark

After a successful career as an electrical engineer, I started a new adventure when I found Andrean High School as a student teacher.

I spent the next 10 years teaching physics at Andrean and—as I told parents at the beginning of each new school year—using the classroom to drag students kicking and screaming to the edge of useful adulthood.

It was about developing young people into independent, functioning human beings, and their parents supported that objective as much as learning the material.

While I have left the high school, I continue to support Andrean in many ways, from attending theater productions and the occasional basketball or football game to the regular donations.

I fully support Andrean. I loved and met the best families in that environment. The families associated with Andrean are the most wonderful people, and these kids are truly the leaders of tomorrow.

It's that same environment I hope to foster through a generous donation to The Andrean Endowment.

I am hopeful that others will see Andrean's need for a new school. There are a lot of opportunities to make a difference in your community, but I don't think there is a place that can be more impactful than a high school.
